Siegmund Thun Gorge

"Blustery and forceful floods pound against us"
(Count Sigmund v. Thun, in the year 1895)

This natural landmark, which is also known as the "Kaprun Arche" - Kaprun's Ark, has regained its popularity as a natural spectacle in 1991. The glacier water takes a path 320 m long and 32 m deep.

In 1893 the gorge was made accessible using a wooden path. Today visitors are offered an incredible walk through the rock channel.
